Children’s Books Permissions
For requests to use content from Macmillan Children’s Books please follow the directions below.
Carefully check our website to ensure that the title (the Work) you are seeking to clear use of content from is published by Macmillan Children’s Books (UK) or listed as published by one of our imprints: Campbell Books, Kingfisher or Two Hoots.
If a Work is out of copyright, you need not seek permission of any kind in order to use it. Here follows guidelines regarding international copyright law, in the UK (and most of Europe): Copyright in Works published during the author's lifetime lasts for the life of the author plus 70 years (the end of the year). Unpublished Works remain in copyright after the author's death. Any Work published posthumously is likely to be in copyright. Copyright in photographs taken before 1 June 1957 expires 50 years from the end of the year in which it was taken, whether or not it was published.
If the Work you are interested in is in copyright, please complete the Permission Request Form below.
This permission request form is in two parts. Part 1 relates to the Macmillan Children’s Books title (the Work) that you are seeking permission to use content from. Part 2 relates to Your request for permission for usage.
Please read the form carefully before beginning to populate the fields. Publishers should ensure that they have all relevant information about their publication.
Please be aware the process for obtaining permissions can be lengthy, depending on the Work being requested and the rights required. All requests are dealt with in order and we endeavour to give you an initial response within two weeks.
