Colonel Moutarde
Colonel Moutarde is a Paris-based comic artist and illustrator. She was born in Guérande, and studied arts in Nantes for two years. Assuming her penname from a Cluedo character, she published her earliest work in fanzines like Jade and Le Goinfre, before becoming a full-time artist in 2000. Colonel Moutarde is a versatile artist, and her wide-ranging catalogue of illustrations adult graphic novels, children's fiction, advertisements and even fashion publications such as Marie-Claire and Cosmopolitan. Her style is also especially suited to books for young children, and her collaboration with Campbell Books on First Stories: Alice in Wonderland saw Lewis Caroll's classic tale wonderfully reimagined for little readers.
She draws inspiration from artists like Dupuy & Berberian, Fabrice Parme and Petit-Roulet, as well as from her two children.
